Who Eats What in the Nile?
Youssef: Look, Nada! There are tiny fish near the bank. They are silver and blue. Nada: They are looking for food. Small fish eat the water weeds that grow in the river. Youssef: And that white bird by the water? What does it eat? Nada: It is an egret. Egrets eat insects, frogs and small fish. Youssef: What about the big fish? Nada: Big fish usually eat smaller fish and insects. Youssef: And crocodiles? They are huge! Nada: Crocodiles eat fish and birds, and sometimes bigger animals that come to drink. No animal in the river hunts them. Youssef: So every animal finds its own food here. Nada: Yes, and each one has a job. That's why we must keep the Nile clean.
Now work with a partner. Ask and answer: - Which animals live in the Nile? - What do small fish eat? - How can we keep the Nile clean?
